What do you mean by lassi?

Lassi is a popular traditional yogurt based drink that originated from India. Basically there are two types of lassi’s, salted lassi and sweet lassi.

Salted lassi drink is a blend of yogurt or buttermilk base, water and salt where as sweet lassi is a blend of yogurt, milk, cardamom, rosewater or kesar for flavor and sugar for sweetness. You can make wide variations from basic sweet lassi recipe by adding fruits to it like I did here.

How to pick a ripe avocado?

I know like me many might have that confusion in picking the right avocado. I have both experiences, picked the worst avocados that are getting spoils the very next day and unripe avocado that I have to wait for weeks to get it ripened. So here are some tips to pick the best avocado!

  • Look for the color, if you have planned to make any recipe immediately with the avocado then look for the skin color which is darker (almost black) and hint of greens. If you planned to use them later, then select the one that’s greener than darker.
  • Squeeze the avocados, if an avocado feels hard when pressed, then it hasn’t ripe yet.

If you feel the avocados little soft, then it’s the best ripen avocado.

To store the cut avocado, sprinkle them with lemon or lime juice and wrap it and place it in an airtight container and then refrigerate it.

Rose water (optional): Rose water is flavored water made by steeping rose petals in water. It gives excellent sweet flavor to the lassi recipe.
